How can I power from a 9V USB device?
I recently got a cheap motion detectors to keep my desk away from my cats. It is battery operated with a 9, and get a sound like a smoke alarm when there is movement around him. So far it has worked in the sense of the big cats, but it goes through batteries really fast. I want a path and run it over the USB. I know USB 5V, but I really do not know enough about electrical circuits, to figure it out on my own. I know how to solder, and have extra USB cable lying around, I just need to know, what else do I need this to work it. Would not it be possible to double Input USB cable (the kind used to power 2.5 "external hard drives or USB hub) and then use a voltage regulator to bring up to 9V? I'm pretty sure that it takes no more than 500mA, but to find out would be a problem. I also know that Nokia makes a DC / DC-USB used to 9V converter to calculate specific cell Phones. I thought, but in the opinion of others was interested.
You can not. A USB port has 5V on it. You could build and deliver a boost, but It would be much more expensive than a few boxes of 9V batteries at Sam's Club. You need to convert the 5V 5V into a vibrant, then through a series and parallel connection of arangemnt cpacitors, you can increase the tension. The result would be a low power, may not be enough to drive the alarm.
